TANZANIA PRESIDENT INAUGURATES PHASE 1 OF ELSEWEDY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Elsewedy Electric PSP leads the successful completion of UAE's layyah power plant steam blow phase

In December 2021, H.E. President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan and Elsewedy Electric President and CEO Ahmed El Sewedy inaugurated Elsewedy Industrial Complex in Tanzania, Elsewedy Electric East Africa LTD, building on the ongoing cooperation of Elsewedy Electric and Tanzania by turning the country into a manufacturing and export hub for the company’s operations in Africa.

 

The Kigamboni-based factory is the company’s second-largest complex only surpassed by Elsewedy Electric’s main factory in Egypt.

 

Built on 120,100 square meters, the complex comprises several manufacturing facilities, from cables & conductors, transformers, through PVC, and meters, to a logistics center on a 4,800 square meters area.

 

The complex, whose investments amount to USD 35 M, will produce the solutions and equipment necessary for the industrialization strategy of Tanzania 2025 and cater to the demand of not only the Eastern African Region but Sub-Saharan Africa as a whole.

 

The complex will create over 500 jobs for talented youth in the first phase alone. In addition, it includes a training academy to provide innovative technical education and vocational training programs with international standards to skill and train aspiring youth.

 

“Tanzania’s favourable investment climate and its government’s support to industries enable Elsewedy Electric to use the new complex as a manufacturing and export hub at the heart of east and south Africa,” said Ahmed El Sewedy, President and CEO of Elsewedy Electric.

 

“Tanzania is suitably located bordering eight countries, six of which are nearly or completely land-locked, which makes Tanzania well-positioned to become a regional economic and transit hub.”

Structured cabling is the passive infrastructure that supports the transmission of data, voice, and video signals in a building or campus. It consists of various components, including twisted pair cables, fiber optic cables, and cable accessories. Twisted pair cables are the most common type of cabling used in structured cabling systems. They are composed of two insulated copper conductors that are twisted together to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI). The most common types of twisted pair cables used in structured cabling are UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) and FTP (Foiled Twisted Pair). Fiber optic cables are another type of cabling used in structured cabling systems. They are made up of glass or plastic cores that transmit light signals. Fiber optic cables are generally used for long distances or high-bandwidth applications. Structured cabling systems typically include a variety of components, such as closures, patch panels, outlets, modules, racks, and cabinets. Closures are used to terminate and splice cables. Patch panels are used to connect cables to other network devices. Outlets are used to provide access to the network for end users. Modules are used to connect cables to patch panels. Racks and cabinets are used to house and organize cabling components. The type of cabling and components used in a structured cabling system will depend on the specific needs of the network.
